Online tools for voter verification
Recent explainer pieces have walked voters through the Election Commission portal, where they can select province, district, local level, ward and polling station to find their names on the roll. After locating the correct entry, voters can confirm key details such as date of birth and polling centre, using their citizenship number or other personal identifiers for verification.
The same portal hosts a pre-enrolment and edit section that allows registered voters to request corrections to spelling, address or other errors before visiting the district election office to finalise changes. This reduces queues and paperwork at local offices and is especially useful for urban voters and internal migrants who changed addresses after the last election.
The Commission and civic groups are urging voters to complete these checks early, rather than waiting until the final days before polling. Early verification can prevent disputes at polling stations, ensure that first-time voters know exactly where to go, and reduce the risk that minor clerical errors lead to disenfranchisement.
